My UIB 2017 Highlight - Hosting El Salvador’s first IoT Day If you don’t already know, IoT day is the annual day where the worldwide IoT community takes a day to speak with people about IoT, create awareness about it’ benefits and its impact on our lives. IoT day is about having coffee and lunch and a chat with someone on your street as that is where you live and that is where washing machines might get connected. It’s an open invitation to the Internet of Things Community to participate in an event, host a hackathon, or just share a beer/coffee with a friend or fellow collaborator focused around the IoT and its implications. My favorite moment from 2017 was hosting the first ever IoT Day event in El Salvador in cooperation with HackerSpace, MonstruoInnovation, and FabLab. Along with interesting interactive demonstrations, we organized a series of four talks about distributed intelligence, IoT basics, digital manufacturing, and innovation in IoT. I feel very excited to be part of the emerging IoT community in El Salvador, and to be able to share my knowledge with everyone who wants to learn, develop, and/or just have fun with IoT.
